Mariah Harrison is an American journalist currently serving as the traffic reporter on Good Day Tampa Bay. Prior to joining the Good Day team in the studio, she spent two years as a reporter with FOX 13. Originally from Michigan, she made the move to Florida from the Great Lakes State.
Regarding her academic background, Mariah is a graduate of Central Michigan University, where she studied broadcast and cinematic arts, as well as French and Spanish. Following her senior year, she transitioned from an intern to a weekend morning producer at ABC 12 News in Flint. In less than a year, she secured a reporter position at WLNS TV6 in Lansing, Michigan, where she quickly progressed from part-time producer/reporter to weekend morning anchor.
During her time in Lansing, spanning over three years, Mariah focused on giving a voice to the underprivileged and covering political news affecting the entire state. She received recognition from the Associated Press and Michigan Association of Broadcasters for her investigative series on an apartment complex caught in legal limbo, where low-income tenants chose to sleep in the parking lot rather than their bug-infested units. Her reporting on the Lansing School District contributed to sparking a Title IX investigation by the Department of Education after two young female students were suspended for reporting their sexual assaults to their principal.
Outside of her journalism career, Mariah is deeply involved in her community, volunteering her time to speak with high school and college students about career choices and emceeing numerous charitable events. She has also served on the board of directors for the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate.
