Career
Shelby started her writing career at KRON 4 News, a sister station of KTLA, before moving to KPIX 5 in the Bay Area, where he lived for six years. Later, he relocated to Palm Springs to work as a multimedia journalist and reporter at KESQ-TV. Shelby’s keen interest in health led him back to school while working in news; he pursued a pre-nursing certificate at City College of San Francisco and is currently working towards a Master’s in Public Health. His passion for health reporting grew, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, as he found the study of microbiology, pathogenicity, and virulence deeply intriguing.
After reporting in the Coachella Valley, Shelby became KTLA’s first Inland Empire reporter. He had interned at the station in 2012, and returning to work there fulfilled a long-held dream of continuing his career at Southern California’s top news station.
