Later on, Rucker made a transition to country music, unveiling his debut country album titled “Learn to Live” in 2008.

    His inaugural single from the album, “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It,” reached the summit of the Hot Country Songs chart, marking him as the first Black artist to achieve this feat since Charley Pride in 1983. Rucker has since released numerous successful albums and singles within the country genre. Notably, in 2009, he made history as the first black American to clinch the New Artist Award from the Country Music Association.
